Where is iOS 17.1?
Apple was widely expected to release iOS 17.1 for iPhone today. This morning came and went without a public release leaving users wondering when the software will roll out.
Earlier this month, French regulatory group ANFR said the iOS 17.1 update would land by October 24th. The announcement seemed definitive.
The group stated that “Apple has committed to deploying an update in France” and the update, which will deliver a tweak to lower radiation levels on the iPhone 12, will “be available to all users no later than October 24.”
Of course, that could still happen. It’s not even 12PM on the west coast of the United States yet and Apple sometimes releases new software late in the day.
There’s also a chance iOS 17.1 misses today which would put its release date in flux. So if it doesn’t arrive today, what are the other scenarios?

Apple could simply release the software on Wednesday, Thursday, or even Friday. There’s also a chance the company is holding the software back for a release next week.
Earlier today, Apple announced a Mac-focused “Scary Fast” event. The event is scheduled to take place on Monday, October 30th at 5PM Pacific. The company has added a livestream placeholder on YouTube and its website.
The event will center around new Mac devices with reports hinting at a new 24-inch iMac and new MacBook Pro models with updated processors.
We could see Apple deliver new software next week, shortly before the event, or perhaps after the event once the new devices have been announced.
iOS 17.1 isn’t the only release in the cards. Remember, the company is also gearing up to release a new macOS Sonoma 14.1 update for Mac.
Either way, we should see new software land for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other devices this week or, if we’re unlucky, sometime next week.
Apple is on the final version of the beta for all of its incoming upgrades so a release is definitely imminent.
