Around 11:30 AM Eastern on Friday Facebook went down, showing users an error message that says, “Account Temporarily Unavailable.”
There is no information about why Facebook is down, and accounts do not appear to be deleted or un-secure in relation to this message. The full text says, “Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly.” and asks users to try again in a few minutes.
While Facebook is down on the web, you can still access Facebook on your iPhone or Android using the app. Reports on Twitter indicate this is widespread.

This is a developing story and the website appears to be coming back online for some users, while there are additional reports that the website is still offline. In the meantime you should use the Facebook app to connect to the service.
