I’m quite blessed to live in the beautiful state of Colorado, which also happens to be home to the Center for Severe Weather Research in Boulder, Colorado. These are the guys who get right up next to tornadoes and hurricanes — all in the name of science. Now, Lenovo is headed into the center of […]
I got a chance to meet our friends from TechSmith in person at the Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco. Betsy Weber is the chief evangelist at TechSmith and she was gracious enough to appear in an InkShow. While TechSmith’s software is impressive, the one thing that sets the company apart is its excellent customer […]
I stopped by the Microsoft booth at Web 2.0 in San Francisco yesterday. Microsoft had several developers showing off their applications and I recorded a couple of demos. In this GBM InkShow Kevin, from Clarity Consulting showed me some apps he developed, including a T-Shirt design application and a wedding-registry application.
John from Startforce showed me his company’s browser-based operating system at Web 2.0 yesterday. Startforce can run on Firefox, Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. Startforce includes a desktop, productivity suite, image viewer and audio player. There’s an IM client that works with AIM, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, ICQ and Yahoo chat. The Startforce email client […]

It is raining Netbooks in the Crocker/Savaiano household, and who better to check them out than my lovely wife, Thomasin. She does have an affinity for these small devices. She also seems to really like the idea behind Athena’s ArtPC. Athena has developed a process of embedding a design into the cover for their Netbooks […]
In this Inkshow, I take a look at the Fujitsu Lifebook U820, a tablet UMPC/MID released at the end of 2008 that employs Intel’s Atom Z530 processor. Besides almost making me blind as I to tried to read the tiny 5.6″ screen supporting 1280×800 pixels upon unboxing, the U820 runs Vista Business on only 1.6GHz […]
Back in November, I brought everyone a first look at multi-touch in a pre-beta version of Windows 7 and a pre-beta version of N-Trig’s multi-touch driver. The experience was really lousy, but it showed promise. With the release of Windows 7 Beta 1 and a new version of N-Trig’s Windows 7 multi-touch driver, I was […]
During CES, we had the rare opportunity to have four Netbooks (or whatever you want to call them) on hand for a head-to-head comparison: Lenovo’s S10, Samsung’s NC10, HP’s Mini 1000, and HP’s Mini 2140 (not officially a Netbook, but close enough for our purposes). We compare the keyboards, touchpads, power buttons, ports, sizes, screen […]
As an attendee of Digital Experience, I just got a list of vendors planning to present at Digital Experience emailed to me; and, what do I find but this little nugget of info listing OQO as a presenter, announcing their Model 2+ featuring the 1.86 ghz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, and an embedded […]
