Google doesn't mention it much, but the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL both have an IP68 dust and water-resistant rating. 

So while you probably can't take the Pixel swimming, if it falls in the pool (or toilet) you're ok and the phone won't die. the Pixel 2 was only IP67, but the last few models are IP68. This means the phone can handle going under around 5ft of water for 30 minutes and come out working just fine
