Sony Ericsson: Xperia X10 Gingerbread Update Isn’t Quite Ready

Published

on

Yesterday, we reported that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 update had touched down and landed. Well, as it turns out, Sony made the announcement prematurely and the update is, in fact, not currently available and won’t be for at least a couple of days. In a blog post from Mattias Holm who is Sony Ericsson’s Head of Product PR, Holm explains that the company jumped the gun but that the launch is “imminent” and the timing is according to plan. If you recall, they had said August would be the launch month and we are just a few short days away from August so this all shouldn’t be too surprising. What is surprising is that the update is actually rolling out to the phone at all, especially after Sony said it wouldn’t be.

Holm says that the company needs just a few more days to get the update out and those of you with an unbranded Xperia X10 should be on the look out in the near future. Unfortunately, he doesn’t mention the AT&T version at all so we still have no idea when that device will be getting Gingerbread, if at all.

Disappointing to be sure, but at least Sony is being communicative, unlike some other companies.
