Don't Wait If You Need a Ton of Horsepower
We might see a new processor and a screen bump, but we may not see much else in terms of performance upgrades. We haven't heard anything about camera upgrades nor have we heard anything about Face ID or a jump to 5G connectivity. And while the A12 processor would be a nice jump, it doesn't have anything on the chip that powers the new iPad Pro models. If you're planning to do intensive work like video editing or if want high-performance gaming, you'll probably want to go with an iPad Pro over the iPad or iPad mini. Rumors also point to a new budget iPad with mini-LED technology. The device is reportedly coming sometime in 2021. mini-LED has some advantages over the LCD and OLED displays that are on most Apple devices. The technology can provide higher contrast, deeper blacks, higher brightness, and they're also less prone to some of the burn-in issues that can plague OLED displays. They're also more power-efficient which could help with overall battery life.
