Be Careful If You Own an Old Mac

macOS Monterey is available for Macs as old as 2015, which is great for long term support, but if you're at the edge of this compatibility, you may want to hold off on installing the update. Let other users try out macOS Monterey on an old Mac to see how it performs.

This will let you decide if the software's performance is fine or if there are issues that will prevent you from reliably using your Mac.

Check sites like the MacRumors forums and Apple Discussion forums to hear from users with similar Mac models.

You're able to downgrade your Mac's software to macOS Big Sur so you can test macOS Monterey out, but you'll want to make sure you have a good backup and that you have time to downgrade if macOS Monterey isn't what you expected.

Preview Version 11.0 (1033.4) freezes more than half the time I use it.
‘Report Issue to Apple’ gives me the spinning coloured wheel for about 30-45 s before it recovers.
I had to force quit the Finder just today. I was unable to re-launch the Finder. I had to manually power down, and then it took about 4-5 tries to get the MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021) (Apple M1 Pro chip) to start again.
