Install Android Oreo for Better Security
If you value your security, you have good reason to install Android Oreo onto your Nexus 5X right now or in the near future.
First of all, before you can install Android Oreo on your device, you'll need to download any of Google's security updates you've missed. The company's security updates come with vital patches for potential exploits and you can read more about their contents right here on Google's Android Security Bulletin.
Android 8.0 also comes with some security features of its own including a major addition called Google Play Protect.
Google Play Protect is built into Oreo and it works in the background to protect your Nexus 5X and your data. If something is amiss on your Nexus 5X you'll receive a prompt. The service also scans billions of Android applications daily to ensure they're safe to download.
Oreo also includes a Wi-Fi Assistant that will secure your Wi-Fi connection with a VPN back to Google when using an open Wi-Fi network. It also prevents hostile downloader apps from operating without your permission.
Security is a huge focus so if you want to protect your phone and the information you store on it, it's probably wise to move to Android 8.0.
