If you don't want to pay $199 for a pair of AirPods 2, you'll want to skip a pre-order. 

We don't expect any early AirPods 2 deals and you'll likely have to pay the $199, plus tax, for the foreseeable future. 

You might be able to shave off some of the price by trading in/selling your current earbuds/headphones on resale sites like Craigslist and eBay, but the usual trade-in spots like Apple and Gazelle aren't giving out cash for old AirPods.

If you want to save cash on a pair of AirPods 2, you'll likely have to wait a few months (or longer) for retailers to offer deals. 

The best deals of 2019 will likely emerge during Black Friday in November and the holidays in December. If you can't wait that long, you'll want to start looking at alternatives.
