Wait for Even Better Cameras

Google's Pixel devices typically offer an excellent camera experience. Part of that is the hardware and part of it is the software on board.

One potential change that's been discovered is support for staggered HDR. Neither the Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro support it.

Staggered HDR means short and long exposures are taken simultaneously which in turn leads to faster capture times.

If this change is accurate, it would force Google to include a new sensor on the Pixel 8 series. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro cameras simply don't support it at the hardware level.

We've also heard Google's working on a new "Video Unblur" feature to help sharpen up videos. We suspect it will be similar to the "Photo Unblur" feature the company debuted alongside the Pixel 7 series.

Leaker Kamila Wojciechowska has also highlighted other potential features including a larger main camera sensor and an improved ultrawide camera.

You can also expect the company to refine current stalwarts like Night Sight which will lead to better shots in low-light environments.
