Wait for a Few More Patches
We haven't run into any major bugs or performance issues with the game, but some players have.
Rockstar has released several patches with across-the-board improvements and various bug fixes, but issues remain.
If you're a huge fan of Rockstar's games your tolerance for issues is obviously going to be much higher than someone who's not as invested.
But if Red Dead Redemption 2 is attracting you to the series or an open-world game for the first time in awhile or you simply don't have a lot of patience for bugs and finding solutions, you might want to take a rain check and wait for the developer to roll out a few more patches.
Rockstar should release a steady stream of bugs fixes and performance improvements as it discovers bugs and takes in feedback from players.
These patches will help to stabilize the game, fix the most glaring bugs in the Story mode and in Red Dead Online, and make it more enjoyable than it already is.
There will always be issues due to the game's size and scope, but if you wait a few more weeks you'll end up with a more polished version of the game.
