Wait for an Apple Watch Pro

If you enjoy taking your Apple Watch into rugged environments, or if you like doing extreme workouts, it looks like Apple's developing a new Watch for you.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a new Apple Watch "with a rugged casing aimed at athletes, hikers and others who use the device in more extreme environments." The device will offer better protection against drops, scratches, dents, and more.

He also says this new model will come with a larger display that measures almost 2 inches diagonally. This is something we've heard about before though it looks like this might be the only new model with this change.

The new rugged model will reportedly have a larger battery than the other models which will allow athletes to track workouts for a longer period of time.

It won't, however, feature the long-rumored flat design. Instead, Gurman says  the design will be "an evolution of the current rectangular shape."

Gurman believes this model will be Apple's "Pro" Watch which means it will likely come with an expensive price tag. He thinks it will land somewhere between $900 and $999.

Analyst Ross Young also believes this version of the Apple Watch will come with a huge price tag and because of that, he expects low sales.

In addition to Gurman, respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also believes Apple will launch a rugged model in 2022.

Japanese blog Mac Otakara believes the "Pro" model will come 47mm case size which is bigger than the current options found on the Apple Watch 7 (41 mm, 45mm). The site also believes the device will have a flat display.

If a high Apple Watch Pro is something you've been waiting for, you might want to wait around for the 2022 Apple Watch models.
