If you can hold off on buying a new smartwatch, you should do so. The 2022 Apple Watch release date is close.

Apple says watchOS 9, the company's new operating system for Apple Watch, will launch in the fall. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says it's on track for a release in September. It will almost certainly power the new Apple Watches when they arrive.

Apple's confirmed a launch event for September 7th and it's there that Apple will likely debut the new Watches and the iPhone 14 series.

The new Apple Watch models should hit shelves shortly after that.
