7 Reasons to Wait for the Pixel 3a & 3 Reasons Not To

Google is reportedly working on another version of the Pixel 3 and the new devices should arrive soon. While some you will want to go with the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, or another device on the market, others might want to wait for the company’s rumored Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, formerly known as the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL.

If you’re looking for a new phone, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL should be at the top of your list. Google’s 2018 flagships are two of the best phones on the market and they’re worth a look if you’re currently using Android or if you’re a potential convert.

Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL should also be on your shortlist. They’re getting older, but they’re outstanding devices and much cheaper than they once were.

Before you pickup a Pixel 3, Pixel 2, or another device, make sure you dig into 2019 Pixel rumors. Google is likely working on a Pixel 4 for the fall and it looks like we could see the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL serve as the bridge between the Pixel 3/Pixel 3 XL and the new Pixel 4 flagships.

Pixel 3a Rumors

The Pixel 3a has been in the rumor mill for awhile now and we’ve seen a steady flow of new information in 2019. The device has leaked multiple times and undergone a name change.

The devices that were at one point called Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 Lite XL will reportedly be called Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL when they hit shelves. The names come from the Android Q beta and a leak on Google’s own website.

Google’s new Pixel 3 reportedly comes with a different design, a Snapdragon processor, Android Pie, and several other features that should pique your interest.

The device looks like it will be a mid-range alternative to the flagship models which makes it an interesting device for those who want a Pixel experience without breaking the bank.

The Pixel 3a launch is set for May 7th.

The Pixel 3a won’t launch in April, but they’ll launch long before the Pixel 4. And with a launch creeping closer, it’s time to decide if you want to buy now or wait.

In this guide we’ll take you through the best reasons to wait for the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL and the best reasons to skip them and find something else.

Wait Because the Launch is Getting Close

Wait Because the Launch is Getting Close

While it would be great to see a surprise launch in April, signs are pointing to a launch next month.

The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have reportedly passed through the FCC and a launch is getting extremely close.

According to Andro News, Google is targeting a launch in the first half of 2019. Specifically, it looks like the device could launch at Google's annual Google I/O conference.

Google's confirmed Google I/O 2019 dates and it's set to kick off on May 7th and stretch until May 9th. Google's keynote will start in the morning on May 7th.

The company says "something big is coming to the Pixel universe" on May 7th so we can only assume it's these devices.

A report from Android Police suggests the phone will arrive on Verizon sometime in the spring and a separate report from 9to5Google claims the devices are also coming to T-Mobile

They should hit shelves on or around May 7th.
