8 Reasons the Galaxy Note 8 Beats iPhone X

More Security Options

Another area where the Galaxy Note 8 beats the iPhone X is security. The Note 8 has a fingerprint scanner, Iris Eye Scanner and Facial recognition in addition to a pin, password or pattern. You have plenty of security options.

By stretching the screen to all four corners of the iPhone X Apple ditched the home button and Touch ID. The iPhone X does not have a fingerprint scanner.

So how do you lock and secure your phone? That's where the new Face ID facial recognition comes in. And as a Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 user, potential iPhone buyers need to temper their expectations for Face ID. Yes, Apple probably has a better implementation than Samsung, as the Note 8 face unlock is terrible. At least Note 8 users have other options.

As bad as the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner location is, at least there's a fingerprint scanner for when you need it. iPhone X users will end up relying on Face ID or unlocking their phone with a PIN, which isn't ideal or very secure.

And if all else fails, Galaxy Note 8 owners can use Smart Lock. A feature I expected Apple to copy years ago. Smart Lock bypasses your lockscreen method when you're at home, or connected to a Bluetooth device like a smartwatch or car stereo. It knows when you're in a secure location, so you don't need a fingerprint or facial scan to unlock it. As soon as you leave your house or are no longer driving, the security method locks back into place.

It's extremely useful, especially considering the poor location of the fingerprint scanner and unreliable facial recognition.
