While some people will absolutely want to pre-order the Apple TV 4K, others should think about passing on the new model for now.
Apple’s launching a brand new Apple TV alongside its iPhone 8 and Apple Watch 3. The new Apple TV 4K is set to go on sale starting September 15th and it will arrive in stores a week later on September 22nd.
The new Apple TV 4K is loaded with new features but it’s also a little more expensive than previous models. Many of you are probably fine paying the premium for access to 4K content but others might be better off with an older model or a device from another company.
There are two versions of the Apple TV 4K. The model with the least amount of storage space, the 32GB variant, costs $179 in the United States. The more expensive model, the 64GB Apple TV 4K, is $200. The company’s 4th generation Apple TV is still on sale and slots in at the $150 price point.
We don’t expect any of these new Apple TVs to sell out during the company’s pre-order process but some of you still might want to order an Apple TV 4K when pre-orders go live on Friday night.
Our Apple 4K TV buyers guide will take you through the best reasons to pre-order the new Apple TV and some reasons why you might want to hold out, at least temporarily.
