Battlefield 1: 5 Things to Know in December

Published

on

December will be a busy month for Battlefield 1 and today we want to take a look at the most important things current, and prospective, Battlefield 1 players need to know as we push toward the end of the year.

Its been over a year since EA DICE launched Battlefield 1 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. And during that year, the game’s changed in a number of interesting ways.

In December, Battlefield 1 will get even bigger thanks to a brand new DLC expansion that takes gamers to the shores of Gallipoli, located in modern day Turkey.

The third Battlefield 1 DLC is just one part of DICE’s plans for December. The company is also planning to launch another Premium Trial, and we’re also seeing substantial price cuts emerge as we make our way into the holiday season.

Battlefield 1 Deals

If you haven’t bought Battlefield 1 or the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass yet, December’s going to be a good month to do so.

We saw several Battlefield 1 deals emerge during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and we expect to see more deals emerge for the base version of the game, Battlefield 1 Revolution, and the Premium Pass.

Best Buy is currently selling Battlefield 1 for $40 and Target’s currently taking 5% off Battlefield 1 Revolution. Battlefield 1 Revolution features the base game and the Premium Pass. The Premium Pass, which is $50 on its own, nets you all four DLC expansions and additional bonus items.

Before you buy Battlefield 1 or the Premium Pass in December, make sure you scout for deals. There’s no reason to pay full price for this game this month.

Turning Tides DLC

DICE is planning to release the game’s third DLC bundle in December.

Turning Tides focuses on World War I’s amphibious combat and two major battles including the infamous Gallipoli Offensive and the fighting in the North Sea. Only part of Turning Tides comes in December though.

DICE’s broken the DLC up into two parts. Gallipoli will touch down on December 11th while the North Sea content, which includes the new British Royal Marines faction, will make its way to Premium Pass holders in January.

Turning Tides features more than just a new Faction. It also includes four brand new maps, new vehicles, new weapons, new ranks, and so much more.

Premium Pass holders get access to the content starting on December 11th, but they get a two week start on everyone else. Once that period is over, Turning Tides will go on sale for $15. We don’t expect to see any deals on the standalone version of Turning Tides.

In January, DICE will release the rest of Turning Tides. And it’s only after that do we expect to hear about the fourth and final DLC expansion, Battlefield 1 Apocalypse.

Don’t expect DICE to confirm much, if anything, about Apocalypse in December.

Premium Trials

If you haven’t played the Battlefield 1 DLC yet use DICE’s December Premium Trials to test the content before buying it.

DICE is running two Premium Trial periods in December. The first Premium Trial runs from November 22nd to December 4th and the second one stretches from December 8th to December 10th.

These trials allow you to play the first two Battlefield 1 DLC expansions, They Shall Not Pass and In the Name of the Tsar, for free.

We expect DICE to launch a Premium Trial for Turning Tides though it hasn’t confirmed anything yet.

December Battlefield 1 Update

I you don’t plan to buy Turning Tides or the Premium Pass, you can still expect a major Battlefield 1 update to emerge for your platform on December 11th.

DICE bundles its DLC content inside mandatory updates for all players, not just Premium Pass holders, and the developer is planning a substantial patch for this month.

The December update is currently in testing, but it looks like it will bring a sizable list of bug fixes and tweaks to the game’s balance.

We expect the December Battlefield 1 update to be a sizable download so now would be a good time to start deleting files on your PC or console if you’re running out of space.

In the Name of the Tsar’s update was 10GB for PS4, 10GB for Xbox One, and 8GB for Windows PC.

In-Game Events

December will also feature various Battlefield 1 events and giveaways.

Battlefield 1 Holidays will be active from November 30th to December 31, 2017 and it includes 2XP on Saturdays and Sundays, 250 free scraps for logging in on Mondays and Thursdays, a Holiday Battlepack Mission giveaway on Tuesdays, Special Rewards on Fridays, and Squad Boost XP on Sundays.
