- Why You Need a Budget
If you prefer to earn more money instead of budgeting or have already maxed out your budgeting powers, check out the best apps to make money to start earning money on the side right now. Some of them will let you start making money working from home or while you do things you already need to do anyway. As you work on a budget, check out the best apps to save money, which will help keep more money in your wallet.
The best budget apps for 2020 focus on helping you find you spend your money without manually logging every purchase. You can connect most of these to a bank account to automatically see where you spend money, get alerts for bills and see how much money you have left for a specific item or area of your budget.
Most of these best budgeting apps are free to use, and those that aren’t totally free, are often much less than you would spend on one bank fee. One of the options is $84, but it is a tool that many users swear by.
Mint Budgeting App
Mint is one of the best budget apps because it takes the hassle out of making a budget. You connect the Mint app to your bank and the app can use your details to help create a personalized budget. We love this budget app because it can help you quickly identify where you are spending your money, so you can see where to trim your current expenses as you make a budget.
It's a very easy app to get started with, so you can take the hassles out of starting a budget for 2020.
The Mint app uses the same security as banks and the team behind this service also makes TurboTax and Quicken, so you can trust that they take all possible steps to secure your accounts and your data.
Mint will send you alerts to unusual charges and helps identify tips customized to your spending that can help you reduce the money you spend on fees and on other bills. Mint also includes your credit score, so you can see a big-picture view of your budget and your personal finances. The base subscription is free, but there is an optional in-app purchase of Mint Live for $24.99.
With the Mint apps for iPhone, iPad and Android you can see your budget anywhere and there is also an online component to look at from your computer and a bill pay component to help you manage and pay your bills in one place.

It’s only the most popular. There are tons of better apps unknown to people. Now I’m using premium version of Money Manager Master an I’m very satisfied.

Agreed. I don’t care for mint too much myself. It doesn’t update me with every charge, every so often it will. I don’t think it’s as user friendly as some of the others.

We as Christians must remember that the War has already been won. These (election) battles that we face train us to depend on God alone. Our sense of security must not rest in our possessions or things going our way. We need to be willing to let go of anything He chooses to take away. And in that, remember to trust Him! He knows what we need and has promised to take care of us in any situation!

We are currently developing a new budget app for android , which would allow users to parse the receipts automatically from the photo and extract all kind of information you will need like: total amount, date, name of the shop, list of purchases and their categories.
If you like the idea, you can help us by signing up the beta access here: https://appkeep.me

Would classify myself as a finance nut here, was looking around for finance apps and tried all the Android ones recommended, but most of them seem to be more of bells and whistles and Material Design/Flat Design but lacks advanced functionality.
Ultimately I went for Expense IQ (https://goo.gl/RKUKMG), which has the complete set of features I need, even useful stuff like a Bill Reminder, Budget Planner within the app. It is so powerful that my friend uses it for his small business.
I reached out to the developers, who told me that they are working on a major UI refresh, which takes time as the app has too much functions and they don’t want to break the app for current users. Very responsible and friendly people!
Definitely recommend to check out, as the free version (https://goo.gl/RKUKMG) is probably enough for most people’s personal finance needs. I bought the Pro version, as it is a one-time purchase, and one of the rare few finance apps that don’t charge subscription fees! Way to go! Just give it a try and you may like it too, if you are as serious about managing finances as me.

There’s some kind of weird negativity in the comments.
Thanks for the recommendation Nathan! I tried out Expense IQ, it’s really good and offers way more than most other recommendations in the comments. The other apps look amateurish and are just not “smart” in comparison. Expense IQ feels like it’s designed by people who really care about personal finance, and knows what people need to save effectively.
I love the reports (that actually make sense), flexibility, powerful search function and bills reminder, and there’s still so much in the app to discover.
It’s my personal favorite after trying out the recommendations in this comment thread. If you are looking for an app to use long-term, no other app even comes close to Expense IQ (at least for me).

Right on. I watched (on Free Speech TV) Al Jazeera’s live coverage of the revolt in Egypt that overthrew Mubarak, and it was brilliant, nothing the U.S. networks could even approach. It would be a wonderful thing to have Americans exposed to Al Jazeera’s brilliant journalism, not that Americans would actually watch.

PocketGuard is a Step up from Mint. Mint needs balance Apple Watch app. I also like the way you can mark bill in PocketGuard. If you haven’t given it a chance and you like Mint you will LOVE POCKETGUARD!!!!!
03/25/2016 at 10:07 am
I don’t like that with mint, i can’t see total income & total expenses for each month. Thats so dang basic.
It would be great to see how mich comes in, how much is spent on the necessities, & how much is spent on combined extras like entertainment, then how much is left over…for example how much can be sent to savings after seeing how much “extra” you have each month.

Founder of Everwealth here. I am just trying to clear the air on this comment above that has asked people to “avoid Everwealth”.. because we are apparently scammers..?
If you have ever worked in a startup before then you would understand how much blood sweat and tears goes into them. To have someone come along with no factual information and suggest that our product is a scam is very deflating.
To that note, our product is certainly not a scam! We are a legitimate company running our business from Brisbane, Australia. If you have any concerns about our legitimacy or security then please contact us directly – we are more than happy to chat.

I’ve tried a lot of applications, but none doing exactly what I needed:-( I need just a few simple things:
1) categories editing (ok, it is no problem)
2) import and export (many apps knows it, but not every)
3) need to see imediately, how much i spend in a given month – and this is a problem:(( Aps have reports, filters, but its unnecessarily complicated. I want to see my spendings, when i run the app. Android apk Financiator is perfect for me, but now i have iOS, and there is no alternative

I’ve tried a lot of the different finance apps that sync in to your bank accounts, like Mint, but I like to use Budget Monthly for the simple control it gives. A very nice list! Personal Finance Apps have definitely changed the way budgeting is done, I have tried some of them before. And there are of course many apps out there with different features and that’s absolutely great, as it gives the opportunity to choose the most appropriate one. Right now I am using the personal finance app inBudget because it makes it easy to share my money management experience with my friends and family as it has great social features. It’s a great choice if you want to manage your budgets together with someone else as it can be great motivation to stay on track. I think it’s quite a new app and has a potential to be added to the list as well.

I have tried to find my perfect budget tracker app, but it is not an easy task. Among those that you described (nice review, by the way, thanks), I tried only several. Mint was the best one, I guess. Although I do not like all that “connect-to-a-bank” staff. I do not want some 3rd parties to know my income, etc. I am a little bit paranoid to it :) I just wanted to have a possibility to track my expenses and see the statistics.
Additionally, I tried Money Lover (not in your list, btw). It was too overloaded with the functionality and Ads, so I quit it.
So, we developed an alternative. It is called “MonKey” (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avabrosolutions.monkey). For me, its main benefits are:
– Easy to use
– Not overloaded with the unnecessary features
– Ready-to-go – install and start to use (without loads of boring configurations)
– Works offline (except for some non-vital functions)
– No ads all over the interface
– Anonymous – nothing is stored on the external servers
– Different input methods (manual, fast, voice, scanning)
– SMS banking – parsing of the push- and sms-messages from the banks, without needing to bind the actual bank account to the app. Currently, the list of supported banks is limited, but it can be extended by request.
– Possibility to create your saving goals for the categories and monitor the progress
It is distributed free of charge, with the possibility to purchase the extended features inside of the app.
It is not a commercial comprehensive solution, but it’s nice and easy

Nice selection. I’ve tried many of these, however, I’ve been using http://www.moneystrands.com as its been the easiest app I’ve personally come across for budgeting and helping me manage/control my finances better.

Great list I have used some of these in the past. Also peep http://www.moneystrands.com. I’ve been using it now for some time. Very user-friendly and allows me to budget as well as create savings goals for the future. Me and my wife are saving to go to Hawaii. All good.
