Asus Transformer Mini T102HA
The Asus Transformer Mini T102HA is the least expensive Surface Pro alternative yet. It costs just $269, and you get everything you need to use it as a laptop or digital drawing pad.
This Windows 2-in-1's internals do reflect its low price. It has a 10.1-inch 1,280 x 800 display, Intel’s Atom X5 processor, 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. You can only take photos with the 2-megapixel camera above the device’s screen; there isn’t a camera on the rear.
All this means that if you choose Transformer Mini T102HA as your next device, expect video that's less detailed, a camera that takes worse photos and a processor that won't handle multitasking as well as other devices in this breakdown.
Besides the low price, these hardware comprises do pay off in unexpected ways. The Transformer Mini T102HA lasts for 11 hours of video playback because its screen is smaller and its processor is less powerful than other Surface Pro 4 alternatives. The smaller display also makes the device easier to hold than other Surface Pro rivals. Asus used the spot that would normally hold a rear-facing camera to add a Windows Hello fingerprint reader for signing in without a password.
Despite its small size, the Asus Transformer Mini T102HA has a MicroSD Card reader, a USB 3.0 port, a Micro USB port and a headphone jack.
Asus includes a cover and digital pen with the Transformer Mini T102HA for $284.99.
