Do you still have a cable or satellite subscription at home? With many of the the apps for your cable company you can transfer your DVR recordings to your iPhone, iPad or Android to watch offline while you are traveling. You need to create an account, link up with your DVR and be on the same WiFi network in most cases. One of our fellow journalists uses the Xfinity Stream app to catch up on TV shows while traveling. The DirecTV app allows me to download shows from my DVR to watch later when I am offline.
