Each of these models has Intel's latest generation processors, and you can max their specs out with up 16GB of RAM and a 512GB solid-state drive. A 360-degree hinge lets you switch the device from laptop to tablet mode by folding its 13.3-inch screen backward. Though it doesn't come with one, the Inspiron 13 7000 does work with Dell's Active Pen technology, so you can take notes in a meeting or sketch your next masterpiece. This laptop also offers more ports than the Surface Book does. You get an SD card reader, 2 USB 3.1 ports, a dedicated power port, a USB Type-C port and a headset jack.
You do give up some things when buying the Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1. The display is only a 1080p panel, so it's not as sharp as the Surface Book's display. Also, the laptop weighs 3.20-pounds. That is light enough that you won't dread carrying it, but not as lightweight as other Windows 2-in-1s. Finally, this laptop only lasts for around 8 hours on a single charge. Fortunately, fast charging technology lets you get away from your desk for around an hour after just 30 minutes of charging.
