Samsung HMD Odyssey Windows Mixed Reality Headset
Based on Microsoft’s Windows Mixed Reality standard, the Samsung HMD Odyssey is a solid alternative to all the other VR headsets in this round-up. It offers many of the same features as the PC VR headsets, but doesn’t cost as much.
The HMD Odyssey has a 2880 x 1600 AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and very deep blacks. This screen offers 110-degrees of immersion, so it will fill your field of view with your favorite game. Built-in headphones and microphones make this headset far less cumbersome to wear than other devices. And, sensors built-into the headset keep you from getting lost in a complicated setup process. Two of Microsoft’s motion controllers come with the HMD Odyssey.
Thanks to a dedicated Windows Mixed Reality download in the Steam Store, you get access to the video games and apps in the Steam Library. That’s when you aren’t trying out VR games in the Microsoft Store or enjoying music and video in your digital house.
Microsoft sells the Samsung HMD Odyssey Windows Mixed reality Headset for $499.
