Call of Duty WWII: Which Edition to Buy?

This is what you need to know about the various Call of Duty: WWII editions, including what you get and what you need to know before you pick a version to spend your hard earned cash on.

Activision offers a lot of options including the Call of Duty: WWII Valor Edition with loads of extras and Best Buy offers up several special editions including the Call of Duty: WWII Deployment Edition and Call of Duty: WWII Boots on the Ground Edition. Before you pre-order Call of Duty: WWII, make sure you understand what you get.

Despite many issues producing extras for games, Activision and Sledgehammer Games are going full in with special Call of Duty: WWII editions that include real-world collectibles.

The Call of Duty: WWII release date is November 3rd for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. There are already many Call of Duty: WWII deals including deals on special editions. Here’s how to fix any Call of Duty: WWII problems once you decide on the edition.

You can buy the three versions of Call of Duty: WWII at basically all retailers, but there is a catch with the special editions. One is a digital only version, so you cannot get any deals on that version. The Call of Duty: WWII Deluxe Edition is PS4 only. The Call of Duty: WWII Pro Edition is available for PS4 and Xbox One, on a disk, but it is only available at GameStop.

Here are the major differences between the Call of Duty: WWII editions and advice on which one you should buy.

Call of Duty: WWII Standard Edition

The Call of Duty: WWII standard edition is $59.99 and is available on disk or digitally. This is the only version of the game that you can find deals on, with savings up to 20% already and the potential for an added bonus at Best Buy later this year.

If you buy Call of Duty: WWII on disk, you will need to go to a midnight release date event at GameStop or at limited Best Buy locations to play right away. If you purchase digitally, you can play as soon as the game comes out and you can even pre-load if you buy directly from the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store or digitally on Windows PC.

The Call of Duty: WWII standard edition comes with the full version of the game including single player and multiplayer. This also includes access to the Call of Duty: WWII beta that arrives later this year.

Call of Duty: WWII Digital Deluxe Edition

If you anticipate playing Call of Duty: WWII a lot, and you know you’ll spend money on the Season Pass anyway, this is an option to consider. For $99 you get a digital version of Call of Duty: WWII, the Call of Duty: WWII Season Pass and additional bonus content. This also includes the Call of Duty: WWII beta.

There are no Call of Duty: WWII Digital Deluxe deals and it is unlikely that we will see any as retailers do not often discount the digital version of the game. With this option, you can also pre-load the game on your console. This is only available on the PS4, which gets Call of Duty: WWII DLC 30 days early. Do not expect to see a special edition like this for the Xbox One or Xbox Scorpio.

If you pre-order this through Sony, you get a PS4 Dynamic system theme based on the game. It is not clear what the rest of the additional content is.

Call of Duty: WWII Pro Edition

  • Call of Duty: WWII Bonus Content
  • Call of Duty: WWII Hat
  • Call of Duty: WWII Steelbook

This is only available at GameStop and it is not clear what kind of deals you may see with this, but you can count on trade-in bonuses. You can also expect a midnight release option if you choose in-store pickup.

Which Call of Duty: WWII Edition to Buy?

With multiple special editions, you may wonder which is the best deal and which one you should buy if you want the the most for your gaming dollar.

If you just want to dip your toes back into Call of Duty after a skipping Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare or Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, you should look at the standard edition and make sure you buy from someplace that offers a good Call of Duty: WWII deal. You can buy this option for $48 with a deal. This is an important price cut to consider.

You can buy the Call of Duty: WWII Season Pass for $50, which means that you will end up paying $98 for the base game and all of the Call of Duty: WWII DLC, even if you are on Xbox One. That’s basically the same price as the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Digital Deluxe and Pro Editions.

Buy the Call of Duty: WWII Digital Deluxe if you know you are going to play the game for a year and you want the PS4 Theme as well as the included Season Pass. With this option, you can pre-load Call of Duty: WWII so that you can play at midnight on the release date.

The Call of Duty: WWII Pro Edition at GameStop is worthwhile only if you like the collectible options including the Call of Duty: WWII hat and the Steelcase. If neither of those excites you and you don’t care about being able to lend the game or trade it in later you can just as easily purchase the digital version.

With the new Call of Duty: WWII Valor, Deployment Kit and Boots on the Ground Bundle, there are some new options out there. Unless you are a diehard fan and want to pay more for the game, skip these since most won’t combine with Call of Duty: WWII deals.

Most gamers should buy the Call of Duty: WWII Standard Edition on disk with a deal and then decide later if the Call of Duty: WWII Season Pass and DLC are worth buying. Doing this means you will pay the same as if you bought the PS4 Only Digital Deluxe and it gives you more freedom. The biggest downside to this option is no ability to pre-load the game, but that is a minor setback for the flexibility that you get.

Call of Duty: WWII Season Pass: 4 Reasons to Buy & 3 to Wait

Buy if Call of Duty: WWII is Still Your Go to Game

Is Call of Duty: WWII your game? If you are sticking with Call of Duty while half the population jumps to Fortnite Battle Royale and PUBG, this is a good investment.

This is still the go to boots on the ground version of Call of Duty, and even with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on the way it makes sense to buy the Season Pass if you will play Call of Duty: WWII for most of 2018.

If you think you will buy all of the maps because you loved the first 6 months of Call of Duty: WWII or because you like the direction the game is going with each update, you should buy the Season Pass.

For gamers who are planning to play Call of Duty: WWII for a year, it doesn't make sense to wait and buy the DLC separately or even to skip one or two of them since that will limit the matchmaking as you get split into a smaller and smaller pool.

We're seeing a new Call of Duty, or rather a return to a more classic Call of Duty game and while things could change with updates, if you are hooked on this game, buy the Season Pass now.

You save $10 over buying the DLC individually, you get a bonus and you may need to wait a long time for a deal.

/|\ He’s right you know. You can get all but 1 edition (out of seemingly 12 or so) on xbox-one. Oh and you might mention that being as the “one” guarantees devs. a half gig more of available ram, they’ve actually been (and continue to) doing A LOT more to the Xbox version. AND that’s just on the “one-S” (base-model if you will) build whereas, Activision/SledgeH. is acutely aware of the (most-powerful and capable game console in the world) “one-X/Scorpio” and are reportedly having a blast, (practically) remastering the entire game and are about to reveal entire new horizons on an already existing game which of course only the mighty “X” can oblige. Long story short: Everyone, especially the v.g.dev. world is “in-bed” with Microsoft these days because Sony has all but given up on development & even their own R&D, but don’t take my word for it of course please just sit back and watch for yourself. Sry so long but thanx for takin the time to catch up, and as a long-time P.S.er, GOD I HOPE Y’ALL START GETTING (at least) DECENT GAMES ONCE IN AWHILE it’s really hard to watch!
