We installed the Workspace Hub27 in a sunroom where we spend part of the summer working, but this could just as easily install in a hallway or bedroom. I’ve been searching for a better way to work in that room since we moved in. I needed a standing desk, but I couldn’t add clutter or disrupt using the room when friends are over.

The Workspace Hub27 fit the bill perfectly mounting on a side wall inconspicuously. It’s only 3-inches deep so when shut we can still walk right past it to the backyard. When I’m working it opens up with a wide open space for me to use a 13-inch or 15-inch laptop easily.

I mainly use this as a standing desk, but the adjustment allows us to use it as a sitting desk or to adjust to standing for a shorter person or a kid.

Using the Workspace Hub27

When you are ready to use the Workspace Hub27, just pull down on the handle to open the desk portion. You can then use clamps on each side to fine tune the overall height of the table portion. There are tracks in the back and small holders that allow you to place a phone, tablet and other work items in the desk. You can take a FaceTime call on your phone or tablet while you work thanks to the holder.

There is enough space to work on the desk with other desk items like a pen and paper as well as space for coffee. The surface is stable for typing and supports more than enough weight for a laptop and other items.

Ergotron built a small opening in the bottom of the unit to run the cord to a power strip up to the unit and there is space in the bottom for a strip. You can then keep charging cords up for a phone, tablet and laptop. These can remain inside the unit when closed.

You can lock the Workspace Hub27 closed using an included key. It’s secure enough for when you are home, but it’s not a lock I would trust in a communal setting since the clasp that holds it shut could be forced open.

I ended up purchasing special screws to mount it to a wall that had cinder blocks directly behind the drywall, but most users will be ready to go right out of the box.
