New Items for Settlements

New Items for Settlements

Like many of you, I enjoy building, decorating and managing various settlements around the wasteland. It didn't start that way but settlement building has grown on me in the worst possible way.

Show of hands: How many of you have stayed up until the wee hours of the morning changing The Castle? I have. More than once.

Currently, I am playing Fallout 4 on the Xbox One so I don't have access to the amazing mods developers have cooked up since launch. Looks like I'll have to wait until May (at the earliest) for that.

In the meantime, Bethesda is throwing console users a bone. The Fallout 4 1.4 patch brings some new items for settlements and they look fantastic. The list includes:

- Super Mutant clutter including meat totems, meat bags and meat cart
- Raider clutter including raider poles, cages and tents
- Abstract and portrait paintings
- Variety of new signs
- More metal and wood doors variants

You can get a feel for some of these items in the video below.

Bethesda's also made a small tweak to how items are displayed in the settlement screen. Users on Reddit have discovered that Workshop stuff added by mods (and perhaps the upcoming add-ons) are marked with a + symbol. You can get a feel for the change in the screenshot here.

These will help to hold me over until the arrival of official Fallout 4 mods and the Wasteland Workshop in April. They should help hold you over too.
