In this guide we’ll explain how to change the font on your Samsung Galaxy S8 or download new fonts to personalize your phone. Samsung has always offered a lot of customization options, and by changing the system font on the Galaxy S8 your phone can have a fresh new look and stand out.

By simply adding themes and changing the font users can make the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ look completely different from how it looked right out of the box.

Like past devices, Samsung offers five unique system font options on both phones. Additionally, you can download hundreds of different styles and sizes from the pre-installed Galaxy App Store. Find out how in our video below.

How to Change the Font on Galaxy S8

  • Head to Settings from the app on your home screen, app tray, or by pulling down the notification bar and tapping the gear-shaped settings button
  • Tap Display
  • Select Screen zoom and font
  • Scroll down to Font Style and select one

From here you can simply select from one of the five system fonts available, and tap Apply at the top of the screen. The choices are Default, Gothic Bold, Choco cooky, Cool Jazz, Rosemary, or hit the + to download more fonts. In this same display settings menu there is a slider to change the font size. This is especially helpful if you download a font that’s too big.

It’s worth noting that Samsung has shut down the use of 3rd party fonts from unofficial sources, so your options will be somewhat limited compared to previous devices.

How to Download Fonts for the Galaxy S8

Those interested in downloading other fonts for the Galaxy S8 can do so in the same settings menu as above. Here are the steps to add more than the five fonts that are available out of the box.

  • Head to Settings from the app on your home screen, app tray, or by pulling down the notification bar and tapping the gear-shaped settings button
  • Tap Display
  • Select Screen zoom and font
  • Scroll down to Font Style and select + Download fonts

Once you hit download you’ll be directed to the Galaxy App Store. Samsung offers a few more styles here for free, or you can choose from hundreds that cost anywhere from $0.99 to $1.79.

Find a new font style you like and hit the big blue Install button. Your Galaxy S8 will download the new font, then hit Apply. The newly downloaded font will now be listed along with the original five in the settings menu mentioned earlier. Additionally, there is an option to uninstall any downloaded font if you don’t like the style.

Feel free to download as many as you’d like by repeating the steps above and find something you like. If at any moment you want to revert back to the default font just follow the instructions above. From the list of fonts select “Default” and apply the original font.

First are a few Samsung cases then we'll move on to some of the more popular (and cheaper) brands available. As we see every year, Samsung has a decent select of great cases and accessories for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

Our favorite among them is the Clear View Standing Cover. It doubles as a kickstand and folds closed to protect the screen. When shut, the clear front displays the time, date, or battery levels. It's expensive but one of the better cases available.
