The highly anticipated Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta is set to kickoff on Wednesday and this guide will help Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC owners prepare for its release.

You don’t have to wait until November to play Star Wars Battlefront 2. EA and DICE are gearing up to launch a beta that will give anyone, not just those that pre-order, a chance to try a portion of the game ahead of its release date.

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta kicks off on October 4th for some gamers and a little bit later for others. It’s one of the largest betas EA’s ever released and it’s a must-play for those of you thinking about pre-ordering or buying the latest entry into the long-running Star Wars Battlefront series.

The beta will help you get a feel for the game ahead of its release and it will also give you a chance to provide EA DICE with valuable feedback about the content and problems.

As we approach the Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta release you should start preparing yourself, and your console, for its arrival. If you spend a few minutes prepping you’ll be ready to jump into the battle as soon as it begins. You also might save yourself some money.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Beta Release Time

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta starts on October 4th and it closes on October 9th. Those looking to take full advantage of the beta should be aware of the specific start, and end, times.

The beta is set to open up on October 4th 4 at 8:00 AM UTC. This means if you live on the west coast in the United States, you’ll get access to the beta at 1AM. If you live on the east coast, 4AM.

When the Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta opens up to everyone on October 6th, it will do so at 8:00 AM UTC. Be prepared to stay up late or wake up early if you want to try it ASAP.

The Battlefront 2 Beta closes on Oct 9th at 4:00 PM UTC assuming EA and DICE don’t extend it. For those wondering, that’s 9AM Pacific.

Make Room

EA says the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Beta “is among the biggest ever distributed by EA, so be mindful that downloading and installing will take a while.” The minimum and recommended specs, which we outline below, recommend that you have 55GB of free space.

We don’t know how big the download will be exactly but it sounds like it’s going to be pretty intense. If you are nearing your hard drive’s threshold, now might be a good time to start cleaning out data (games, other files) you no longer need.

If you don’t meet the minimum requirements now might be a good time to look for a deal on a new graphics card, processor, or RAM.

Decide on Early Access

If you want to start playing the Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta on October 4th you need to pre-order the game soon.

Those who pre-order the game before the cutoff (three days before the start of early access) will get access to the beta on October 4th. If you don’t pre-order before October 2nd you’ll gain access to the beta on October 6th.

How to Access the Battlefront 2 Beta

If you’ve pre-ordered, you’re probably wondering how you’ll access the beta.

Well, if you pre-ordered via Origin, Sony’s PlayStation Store, or Microsoft’s Xbox Store you’re ready to go. Well, minus the massive download.

If you put in a pre-order via a third-party retailer, you’ll need to contact them if you haven’t received a beta code before early access starts on October 4th. You’ll need to redeem a code to download the beta client.

If you plan on picking up the beta on October 6th you won’t need to do anything special. You will simply download the Beta client through Origin, the PlayStation Store, or the Xbox Store.

Get Familiar with Galactic Assault

The Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta delivers three game modes including one that delivers the massive multiplayer experience DICE is known for.

Galactic Assault is a huge part of the beta and it will take place on Naboo. Here’s what you can expect from this game mode:

• Join the Separatist droid army or the Republic Clones on the streets of Theed in massive 40 player multiplayer melees.
• Choose from four distinct trooper classes:
  • Assault troopers are classic flankers, pushing the line forward and advancing the front.
  • Heavy troopers use their high-powered weapons and personal body shields to take ground and hold it.
  • Officers power up their teammates with buffs and deploy remote weapons to support their allies.
  • Specialists lay traps and snipe from a distance.
• Control beloved Star Wars heroes, pilot prequel-era vehicles, and more.

If you’re more of a visual learner, you might want to watch a few videos and get acquainted with the Galactic Assault mode. This way, you can maximize your time with the beta.

Get Familiar with Star Fighter Assault

The beta also comes with another multiplayer mode called Star Fighter Assault.

In Star Fighter Assault, there are two teams. One side, the Rebel Alliance, will attempt to destroy a Star Destroyer over Fondor. The other side, naturally, is the Galactic Empire and they’ll be tasked to defend it.

Be Prepared for Problems

This is a beta which means there will probably be a bunch of bugs and problems. If you can’t handle that, you’ll probably want to skip the beta.

Some of these bugs will need to be fixed behind the scenes. We could see EA DICE deliver an update or two during the beta so keep your eyes peeled for a new patch.

Other problems, like connection issues, might require a manual fix on your end. If you run into trouble with the beta, keep an eye on the official forums for potential fixes. You’ll also want to get in touch with the EA Star Wars accounts on Twitter and Facebook.

Remember, the beta will help DICE weed out problems so make sure you report issues as you see them.
