OnePlus 6T vs Galaxy S9: What You Need to Know

Published

on

When it comes to choosing a new smartphone you have plenty of choices these days. And while the Galaxy S9 and S9+ were over $700 earlier this year, that’s no longer the case. As a result, trying to decide between the impressive OnePlus 6T and the Galaxy S9 for $600 is no easy task. With that in mind, here’s how the two compare.

If you’re hunting for a new phone the Galaxy Note 9 or Pixel 3 XL are likely near the top of your list. They’re also really expensive. That’s why the OnePlus 6T is such an exciting alternative.

Coming with a big 6.4-inch display, in-display fingerprint sensor and the latest Android 9 Pie all for $549 is a big deal. Instantly making this a great option for potential buyers, especially now that its available from T-Mobile and works on Verizon. If you’re debating the two, you’ve come to the right place.

A big part of your buying decision will be what you need and how much you can afford. That’s also what makes OnePlus phones popular. They’re typically a no-compromises device with all the bells and whistles for less money than the competition.

This year though, it has more than most of the competition, yet still costs less. That said, you’ll still have to decide if some of the extra Galaxy S9 or S9+ features are worth the extra cash. Some of them are really important too, like water-resistance and wireless charging.

The Galaxy S9 went on sale back in March, so most buyers have a good idea of what to expect already. Either way, both of these phones have huge screens, tons of power, plenty of storage, and capable rear cameras. And not only does the OnePlus 6T match devices like the S9+ or Galaxy Note 9 across the board, but it beats them in some key areas. There are pros and cons for each, so you can decide what’s more important to you.

OnePlus 6T vs Galaxy S9: Display

OnePlus 6T vs Galaxy S9: Display

Obviously, one of the first things we gotta talk about is the big screen on these phones. And, how the screens are different.

While the smaller Galaxy S9 is only 5.8-inches, it still looks great thanks to small bezels. If you don't want a huge phone, it's the perfect device. The Galaxy S9+ has a bigger curved 6.2-inch Quad-HD display with rounded edges. These phones have no notch, but small bezels at the top and the bottom.

As for the OnePlus 6T, it's packing an even bigger 6.4-inch AMOLED display in a package about the same size as the S9+. The bezel is smaller on the bottom, and the screen stretches to the very top of the phone. Aside from a tiny water-drop notch smaller than any other notch. It puts the iPhone Xs to shame.

Essentially, the notch is as small as physically possible and the only thing in the notch is the front-facing camera. Everything else is above the screen inside a chamfered and angles metal edge.

Of course, the AMOLED Infinity display on the Galaxy S9 will be the better of the two, as they make the best screens. However, the OnePlus 6T will still be more than capable, it's a little bigger, still AMOLED, and has smaller bezels.
