Pixel 3 vs Pixel 4: Specs

Each year technology progresses a little bit, but if we're being honest, Google is being way too cautious here. They didn't put enough RAM in these phones, the amount of storage on the Pixel 4 is insulting, and the Pixel 4 and 4 XL have some of the smallest batteries in the entire industry. It's BS, if you ask me.

That said, here's how the two compare.

Pixel 3 & 3 XL Specs

  • 5.5 and 6.3-inch HD AMOLED Displays
  • 8-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Processor with 4GB of RAM (Same processor as S9, Note 9)
  • 64 and 128GB storage configurations, no microSD expansion
  • Android 9 Pie Software (Now on Android 10)
  • 12.3 Megapixel Rear AI Camera with f/1.7 aperture, tons of software tricks
  • Dual 8MP Front-facing cameras for Portrait selfies, emoji and more
  • Dual Front-Facing Boomsound Stereo Speakers (40% louder)
  • 2,915 mAh and 3,450 mAh Battery with Fast and Wireless Charging
  • IP68 Dust & Water Resistant
  • USB Type-C, Google Assistant, Face Unlock technology, no 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Type-C headphones in the box (vary by region) and more

Pixel 4 & 4 XL Specs (Official)

  • 5.7 and 6.3-inch HD Super AMOLED Smooth Display (90 Hz)
  • Snapdragon 855 Processor with 6GB of RAM
  • 64 or 128 GB of storage, no microSD slot (not enough storage)
  • New Dual 12MP + 16MP Rear Dual Camera setup (f/1.7 aperture, OIS, EIS, 4K) and a telephoto lens
  • 8MP f/2.0 front-facing selfie camera
  • Android 10
  • Face Unlock Tech (no fingerprint sensor at all)
  • 2,800 and 3,700 mAh battery with Fast charging, Wireless charging
  • IP68 Dust and Water resistance
  • Stereo Speakers
  • BT 5.0, WiFi 6, NFC, NO 3.5mm headphone jack

These are both powerful and excellent phones, but they're not without their faults. The biggest problem we see is that Google still only offers 6GB of RAM, when everyone else like Samsung, LG, and OnePlus moved to 8GB of RAM inside smartphones. Better yet, the base model only has 64GB of storage, still, which simply isn't enough. As a comparison, all Galaxy S10 phones have 128GB, and all Note 10 phones come with 256GB or more. It's unacceptable to ask $900 for a phone with 64GB of storage. Shame on Apple and Google!

Then, we're worried about the fact that this year the Pixel 4 has a bigger screen with a higher 90 Hz refresh rate, yet Google oddly put a SMALLER battery inside. Seriously, what the heck? They went down to a 2,800 cell vs the 2,915 mAh in the 5.5-inch Pixel 3. So far reviews are all very negative when it comes to battery life

Either way, these are four fast and powerful phones running stock Android 10. Just know that the Pixel 3 series is still excellent, and more than capable enough for daily tasks.
