Pixel 4 vs Pixel 4 XL: Cameras

If there's one thing we really like about Google's phones its the camera. Or cameras, we should say. This year we're finally getting multiple camera sensors, and they're the same on both the Pixel 4 and the 4 XL.

You're not missing anything if you choose the smaller model, which is nice.

The Pixel 4 series packs Dual Rear AI Cameras: Main 12.3 Megapixel f/1.7 sensor & 16MP Telephoto zoom f/2.4 lens, and technically a third 5MP Spectral Sensor. That third lens isn't a "camera", which is why we're calling this a dual-camera smartphone, and not a triple camera setup.

Then, as we saw during the announcement, Google really stepped up the camera software department, as they did last year, which will make these phones take amazing photos. The Pixel 4 will have the best smartphone camera on the market or at least match the iPhone 11 Pro.

It most likely will, just like all the other high-end new phones.

At 8 GB for the XL, of pre-order! At 6gb, wait for the sale – no use spending for meh specs.

2GB of RAM more will make zero difference. My Note 9 still hasn’t used more than 4GB and it has a lot more than that.

Well, something is wrong with Google’s memory management. Even after all the attempts to fix it.

Yeah I don’t know what you ram fanbois are doing with your phones but as a power user.. I’ve never once maxed my Pixel 3 to the point where it was lagging and I wished for more ram.. sounds to me like you’re falling into the marketing trap, and OEMs are not going to complain about that

I’m still packing the OG Pixel XL. Waiting for the 4XL. Great phone, superb customer service. I had one issue and had a chat with a Google rep, who walked me thru the fix. Great camera too, especially the incredible ‘night sight’.
