With Share Play you can play the same game with a friend if it is multiplayer. You can also hand over control to a friend. This allows them to decide if they want to buy the game or they can get past a hard spot in your game for you -- even if they are a country away. 

Most games support Share Play, but some big names did not get on board with the feature when it first came out. If there are specific games you want to play with this, check the forums for that game before you buy.
