If you need a lot of ports and you want a keyboard that doesn't feel like typing on a tough surface -- this is the best option for you. An author friend just traded his 13-inch MacBook Pro (2017) for a top of the line 2015 MacBook Pro to get a better keyboard and all the ports he needs. 

For other users, it may make more sense to buy a refurbished MacBook Pro from 2016 or 2017 that gives you enough power, and access to all the same MacBook Pro accessories. 

For a good number of users, this is going to be a better option than buying the new MacBook Pro.
