5 Reasons to Wait for the Galaxy S20 Ultra & 3 Reasons Not To

Don't Wait If You Don't Want 5G

Another thing we need to talk about is 5G. This year every carrier and smartphone manufacturer will be talking about 5G and how it's the future. And while yes, we agree, it's the future and very fast, it's still very new.

Current devices you can buy right now like the Galaxy S10+ 5G are big, expensive, get really hot, and haven't been all that impressive. 5G is too much in the infancy stage. And while the new processor inside the Galaxy S20 will likely handle 5G a lot better, carriers like Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile still have a lot of work to do.

A prime example is Verizon's 5G that only works with line-of-sight. That means even a tree or a car in your way will block the signal and make your phone bounce back to a 4G LTE connection. A switch that takes a second, and uses battery. And while the Galaxy S20 family of phones might finally deliver a truly great 5G experience, we're not holding our breath.

If you DON'T want 5G, don't wait for the Galaxy S20 series. From what we're hearing Samsung is only going to offer the Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra 5G in the United States, all with 5G built in. There's no option for a regular 4G model like the Galaxy S10.

And while Samsung will technically release five different Galaxy S20's, with the smaller two being optional 5G, leaks claim only regions outside the US get to choose. Basically, if you get a Galaxy S20 (any model) from a US carrier, it'll have 5G.
