It looks like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild may be the best game of 2017, and it’s definitely the best Nintendo Switch game so far. This is what you need to know about the, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild release date to make sure you are ready.
First off, you can buy The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch or on the Wii U, but keep in mind all the scores we are seeing are for the Switch version of the game. Much of this carries over to the older console, but our focus is on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Release Date
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild release date is March 3rd. This is a Friday, and it’s coming out this day because it is the Nintendo Switch release date as well.
You can still pre-order The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but you don’t need to pre-order to get a copy on day one unless you want the special edition, but it might be too late for that.
You can buy the new Zelda game for the Wii U and for the Nintendo Switch. You can also buy it digitally on the eShop or on a cartridge.
Anybody else's pre-order for LoZ: Breath of the Wild (WiiU) saying it's arriving on April 6-7 from Amazon when it's out this week?
— Stephen Janes (@stephenkjanes) February 28, 2017
We are seeing a lot of users unable to order for release date delivery or even the week after delivery from Amazon, specifically for the Wii U version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s not clear why this is happening, but it is something we’ve seen for other games on Amazon and you can buy this game at many other stores without an issue.
Midnight The Legend of Zelda: BotW Release Date Events
Many stores offer a midnight The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild event where you can stop in and buy the game as soon as March 3rd rolls around.
Many GameStop locations and Best Buy locations are open at midnight to sell the Nintendo Switch. You can also go pick up Breath of the Wild at this same time. Even if you didn’t pre-order a copy — though it will save time if you can do that before the midnight madness.
No Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Trainer to Slow You Down
When you start playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild you don’t need to spend 30 minutes learning the controls before you can explore. You simply jump in and start playing. This is something that we love to see in games as it gets you right into the adventure.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Problems
Be prepared to run into some The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild problems during the first week or two of play. The game arrives with stellar reviews, so some of these may be tied to the console, instead of the game.
Check out this list of Nintendo Switch problems and fixes to make sure you can solve anything that gets in the way of you playing right off the bat. Remember you will need to install a Nintendo Switch update before you play.
There is also a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild update waiting for you on day one tied to the upcoming DLC.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Deals
There are two major The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild deals that are available to gamers. You can save 20% on the game if you buy at Amazon or at Best Buy. At either location, you need to be a member of a paid program, but both are worth it if you buy a lot of games.
Amazon Prime offers 20% off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild now through two weeks after the release date. Unfortunately, the game is out of stock at Amazon right now.
Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked offers 20% off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild now and as long as the game is on sale.
This knocks the price of the game down to $47.99 before tax. The special edition is $79.99 at Best Buy with this discount.
Both of these are only on the cartridge version of the game, so no buying aa digital copy and saving. Amazon Prime is $99 a year with a range of benefits including streaming video, 2-day shipping with no minimums and more. Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocks is $30 for 2 years and offers 20% off games and other bonuses.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Reviews
At this stage The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild reviews are out and many reviewers love this game. It has a 98 on Metacritic with 60 critic reviews in. That’s an astounding rating and currently, it is the 4th best-reviewed game in the history of Metacritic. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo 64 is at the top with a 99 and the only other two games above Breath of the Wild are Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 and GTA 4, both with 98 scores.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC
You don’t need to buy any The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC at this time, but you can pay $19.99 to get what is essentially the season pass for the new Zelda game.
This is available now and you cannot find any deals on this yet, and at this point, it is unlikely we will see any deals on a $20 DLC.
There are two DLC expansions coming with this. The first is coming in Summer 2017 and the second for Holiday 2017.
