What Call of Duty: Modern Warfare edition should you buy? That’s a bigger question than normal with five editions and no season pass to bundle this year. There is even a special PS4 Pro bundle if you need to upgrade your console. It can be difficult to figure out which version is the best value and if you should buy the game on disk or digitally. Activision offers three 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare editions that are all available on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. GameStop also sells two exclusive editions, including the $199 Dark Edition with working night vision goggles as well as special C.O.D.E. editions of the standard game. The only real catch when choosing is that the PC version is only on Blizzard’s Battle.net.

There are some pre-order bonuses that are shared across all of the different editions. The more you spend, the more you get. Bonus items include cosmetic upgrades, Prestige tokens, Call of Duty Points and real-world bonuses.

Which Call of Duty: Modern Warfare edition should you buy in 2019?

None of the editions include a Season Pass. Activision announced that there will be no Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season Pass in 2019. Instead, the game will focus on free maps and cross-play.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Standard Edition

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare edition is the basic version of the game that includes the full game with single player campaign, co-op and multiplayer. This version does include a Prestige Token to use in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

You can buy the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare standard edition for $59.99 on disk or digitally. You can save $10 with My Best Buy Rewards when you pre-order. With Amazon Prime, you get a $10 credit when you buy at Amazon. Expect bigger deals in November.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Disk or Digital?

If you are buying the base game and you like convenience, buy digitally. If you are buying the base game and you want to save on day one, look for some deals on the disk version closer to the release date.
