Settlements Can Defend Themselves

The Fallout 4 1.4 patch comes with a big change to the way settlement defense works. 

The update's change log notes that "Settlements under attack will now display an updated message with the results of the attack if player does not respond." What this means is that settlements will now defend themselves. Your intervention, while helpful, isn't necessary.

I enjoy defending the occasional settlement but there are times when your character's hands are tired. Other times, you might simply want to grab some shut eye and leave the dirty work to the people who inhabit your various settlements.

There are numerous changes on board the Fallout 4 1.4 patch but this is probably my favorite. Its been a game-changer for me.
