Android OEMs still like to put their own spin on the Android operating system for better or worse. While there are definitely some nifty features out there, we, and many others, are still partial to vanilla Android. 

Companies like Samsung still put their own skins over their Android updates. Some people love them, others hate them. For example, Samsung's new One UI is getting mixed reviews. 

With the Pixel 3a, you'll get the cleanest version of Android Pie. You won't see a ton of bloatware and you won't get any gimmicky features. You'll get the fastest, and arguably best, version of Android out there. 

We assume the Pixel 3a software will mostly mirror the software on board the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL which means there's a good chance it'll have unique features like Google Duplex and Call Screen on board. 

Google's version of Android Pie also comes with the company's AR (Augmented Reality) Playground, improved Google Lens, and fingerprint scanner gesture controls.
