Sapphire iPhone 6s Plus Display
As part of a bigger list of potential iPhone 6s features analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shares details with 9to5Mac that Apple could use a Sapphire screen on some iPhone 6s Plus models. Kuo is an analyst with KGI Securities with a good track record of delivering iPhone rumors ahead of the release.
The Sapphire cover was rumored for the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus last year but problems with the supplier likely led to scrapping that feature. The Apple Watch features a Sapphire screen on the two more expensive models.
Before Apple can implement this the report suggests they need to improve the ability of Sapphire to withstand drops. Sapphire resists scratches easily, but Kuo's report suggests that drops are still an issue.
