Don't Install Nougat If You're Unprepared

Don't Install Nougat If You're Unprepared

We can't stress this enough. If you aren't prepared for your Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update don't install your Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update.

If you spend some time doing some prep work before you download the software, you'll be in a much better situation. A little preparation will go a long way toward preventing issues with your phone and the files stored on it.

We've put together a step-by-step walkthrough that takes you through our pre-installation checklist. Some of these steps will take you a few seconds. Others, like making a backup of all of your important files/data or getting familiar with all of Nougat's changes, could take a lot longer.

If you're new to Android or if you simply want some guidance ahead of your download, you'll want to check that walkthrough out. One other note.

If you're an avid Samsung Pay user and you haven't updated to the latest version, make sure you do that before you upgrade to Android Nougat.

Samsung's rolling the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update out in Europe and the change log comes with a warning. The company highly recommends downloading the current version of Samsung Pay before downloading Nougat.

Downloading the new version of Samsung Pay will help stabilize the application during the transition from Marshmallow to Nougat.

If you don't take this step before downloading Nougat you could run into performance issues with Samsung's mobile payment platform.

Even if you're already running Nougat on your Galaxy Note 5 you should take some time to prepare for the latest bug fix build.
