Don't Install If You Can't Deal with Problems

Don't Install If You Can't Deal with Problems

We said this a few times already, but it needs to be mentioned again. Early adopters or those that try software right away might experience problems. If you aren't in a position to deal with bugs and problems, or at least search on forums and look for fixes, don't download it. This is especially true if you're traveling, and won't have time for help.

Again, this is the official release of Android 8.1 so most of the problems from the beta were fixed. Still, we are seeing quite a few early problems that some might not want to deal with. From poor battery life, sound issues, fingerprint problems, and enterprise issues. No update is perfect, and if there's enough we could see a quick 8.1.1 release to fix them.

So bottom line, only download and install Android 8.1 on a Pixel if you're ready to handle the results. You should be fine, but you never know. There could be a reason the OTA update aren't going out yet. We'll update once we know more.

The software is getting more and more irritating to use with every update. Preferences disappear, menus inside menus that link to other menus that loop right back to the first, location detection snoops every place I go, ads and feed items OBVIOUSLY generated from unauthorized use of the microphone or listening on phone calls… After I finish paying for this $700 handcuff, I’m done. Google is going too far for investors, and software geeks have the wool over their eyes.
