It's pretty simple. If you don't want to spend $2000 on your next phone, start looking elsewhere.
The Galaxy Fold is exciting. After years of looking at the same smartphone designs year after year, it feels like a breath of fresh air. Something new. Unfortunately, like the ground-breaking phones before it (original iPhone, the first LTE devices), the Galaxy Fold comes with an astronomical price tag. Samsung and U.S. carriers will sell the device for $1,980. This is for the 512GB version with LTE speeds, not 5G.
If Samsung launches a model with additional storage, you can expect a massive premium well over the $2000 mark. The company will launch a 5G model and you can expect that feature to add hundreds of dollars to the price. That's a lot to ask, especially for a device that's essentially a prototype for future phones. And especially when you can get a device like the Galaxy S10+ for half the cost.
