7 Important Mafia 3 Release Details

Published

on

Last month, 2K Games confirmed the arrival of a new gamed called Mafia 3. Today, the company has confirmed a number of Mafia 3 release details and we want to tell you about some of the most important things to know if you’re interested in picking it up in the near future or in the months ahead.

Five years ago, 2K Games released Mafia 2, the second installment in the Mafia series and a game that followed Vito Scaletta and his friends (and enemies) around the fictional city of Empire Bay.

In the five years since the Mafia 2 release, fans of the series have been clamoring for 2K Games to make another Mafia game. And while we had seen rumors tease a Mafia 3 release, nothing was confirmed until late July when 2K Games released a teaser photo.

The teaser photo confirmed the existence of Mafia 3 but it left a whole lot to be desired. The company promised a big reveal in August at Gamescom 2015 and it delivered today with a playable demo and tons of new release details.

The Mafia 3 release date won’t be arriving alongside the Fallout 4 release this holiday season but that doesn’t make today’s reveal any less important. While we still have several months to go (at least) before 2K Games and Hanger 13 get Mafia 3 out on shelves, there are some things that prospective buyers will want to keep in mind.

Today, we look at the most important details you need to know today, tomorrow and in the months ahead as we wait for the companies to finish up the third-installment in the Mafia series.

Mafia 3 Release Date

Mafia 3 Release Date

The first, and maybe the most important, Mafia 3 release detail has to do with the game's release date.

Today's trailer confirms the Mafia 3 release date for 2016. This means that fans of the series won't be able to play the third-installment this holiday season and it means that we might have a long way to go before we see this game hit shelves.

Unfortunately, the companies behind the game didn't confirm a release window for Mafia 3 which means that we're going to be moving into 2015 and perhaps 2016 blind.

Big AAA titles like Mafia 3 typically slot in early in the year or late in the year ahead of the holidays so it's possible that we'll be waiting until Holiday 2016 for this game to arrive.

This is of course assuming that the game doesn't encounter any delays.
