The original Pixel in 2016 had the best smartphone camera in the world. It received glowing reviews, took amazing photos, and video recording was amazing. Google made it even better on the Pixel 2.
Google is using a new 12.2 Megapixel camera with a f/1.8 aperture and something called "Dual Pixels", similar to the Galaxy S8. Then, the front-facing camera is 8 megapixels too. Both the front and rear camera take amazing photos, smooth video, and have a portrait photography feature. Google is doing what Samsung and Apple need two cameras for, with just one. Using machine learning and computational photography the Pixel 2 camera is "the best cameraphone in the world" and received the highest score from independent sources ever. Every single photo uses the dual pixels to focus extremely fast, capture more light and detail, and even take multiple photos at once. Google's machine learning combines this instantly, with no shutter lag, and produces some of the best photos you'll ever take. They have live photos, portrait photos, 4k video recording, and much more. Then, Google's award-winning electronic image stabilization for video recording last year is better too. Now, they're using OIS and EIS for some pretty impressive results. We'll need to review the camera to say more, but so far it looks like Google just released the best smartphone camera on the market, again.
