The Red Dead Redemption 2 release date is inching closer and today we want to take you through the things we know, and some things we think we know, about Rockstar’s highly anticipated game.
After a lengthy delay, it looks like Rockstar is finally ready to release the long-awaited sequel to Red Dead Redemption. Red Dead Redemption arrived all the way back in May, 2010 though it has since been updated with Backwards Compatibility on Xbox and 4K on the Xbox One X.
The Xbox One X Red Dead Redemption 4K update is a nice gesture, but many people are looking ahead to Red Dead Redemption 2 and its long delayed release.
Rockstar first confirmed Red Dead Redemption 2 all the way back in October, 2016. Since then, the company’s delayed the game several times while releasing occasional teasers to hold fans of the series over until the final release date.
At this point Take-Two, Rockstar’s publisher, doesn’t expect any more delays so we should finally see the final product arrive in 2018.
Thanks to the teasers, retailers, and a few rumors, we know quite a bit about Red Dead Redemption 2. That said, many of the key details remain in the shadows as we push toward the game’s release.
In this guide we’ll walk you through everything we currently know about Red Dead Redemption 2 and everything we think we know about the game and its release.
This includes a look at the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date, Red Dead Redemption 2 pre-orders, the release on PC and Nintendo Switch, and a peek at the most credible single player, online, and Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay rumors.
It’ll be a few weeks before Rockstar unveils the full game, but this guide will help you set proper expectations as we push into the summer months.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date
At one point the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date was confirmed for the fall of 2017. Obviously that didn't happen.
Rockstar pushed the game to the spring of 2018 because some extra time was "necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans."
Unfortunately, Rockstar issued an additional delay pushing the game to the fall of this year. Fortunately, the developer revealed a very specific release date this time around.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 release date is confirmed for October 26th. This is the release date for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the United States.
Again, Take-Two says the game's October 26th release date should stick and there won’t be any additional delays.
Those interested in the game's release should signup for Rockstar's mailing list.
