InvisibleShield Glass Curve Review: Galaxy S8 Screen Protector

Published

on

There are many options for protecting the Galaxy S8 display, but the curved screen presents a challenge for many Galaxy S8 screen protectors. After using the InvisibleShield Glass Curve Galaxy S8 screen protector for several weeks it’s a nice option for users, with some drawbacks.

InvisibleShield includes a small tray that makes lining up the screen protector for installation super-simple. There’s almost no way to mess up installing the Glass Curve Galaxy S8 screen protector, and it installed without any bubbles.

A common complaint with curved screen protectors is that they don’t stick to the phone. After using the Galaxy S8 screen protector from InvisbleShield daily and on a recent trip it stayed secure. It shows no signs of coming off and even when testing the stickiness on the edges it is holding tight. If you run into an issue with the screen protector cracking or falling off for any reason you can get a free replacement from InvisbleShield.

The screen protector edges curve and covers almost all of the display. You may see a small area between the edge of the screen and the super small bezels that are exposed. There is a different look to the edge of the screen. This area looks like it might be sitting there without adhesive, but InvisibleShield tells us that, “InvisibleShield Glass Curve has a full perimeter adhesive which allows for a secure seal around the edge of the InvisibleShield. The perimeter adhesive version is designed to keep the InvisibleShield in place in case of a drop or impact.”

One downside to this design is that it can trap dust or lint along the edge of the screen. It’s not under the screen, and it doesn’t stop us from using the Galaxy S8 edge display functions, but it is annoying to see. InvisibleShield says that this shouldn’t be a problem if the edge is properly sealed. If your screen protector collects dust over time and the adhesive gives, you can get a free replacement. Even with some lint on the edge of our screen, the protector is holding firm.

Touch sensitivity is very good with the InvisbleShield Glass Curve on our Galaxy S8. I can type at the same speed as without a screen protector and select on-screen items are reliable. Right after installing some areas of the screen didn’t respond to touch as well as expected, but after a day touch responsiveness is very close to that of our Galaxy S8 without a screen protector.

We haven’t performed a drop test on the Galaxy S8, but after a 2.5-foot drop cracked our Galaxy S8 Plus there is definitely a need for a Galaxy S8 screen protector and likely a good Galaxy S8 case as well.

You can buy the InvisbleShield Glass Curve direct from InvisibleShield or at many carrier stores and retailers like Best Buy. If you buy at a carrier store they may even install it for you.
