Assassin’s Creed Origins PC Release Details & Specs

Published

on

The Assassin’s Creed Origins PC release is almost here. You need to know all about its specs and features before the game launches on October 27th.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is one of this October’s most anticipated games. PC, Xbox One and PS4 gamers last got an Assassin’s Creed game in 2015. Ubisoft took a year off from the franchise after problems with Assassin’s Creed Unitymainly on Windows PCs – left players frustrated.

The game abandons the modern settings of recent titles for an Egyptian setting. In Assassin’s Creed Origins, you are Bayek, a member of the new Assassin Order. You’ve returned home to find Egypt in the hands of shadowy figures that want to seize as much power as possible.

The Assassin’s Creed Origins PC release date is coming up soon. Here’s what you need to know about the different versions you can buy and how powerful your PC must be to run the game.

Assassin’s Creed Origins PC Release Date

Again, the Assassin’s Creed Origins PC release date is October 27th. Mark that Friday on your calendar because it’s unusual for sure. Games usually launch in North America on Tuesdays instead of Fridays.

There’s no way to play Assassin’s Creed Origins any earlier than October 27th, even if you pre-order a copy of the game ahead of launch.

Assassin’s Creed Origins PC Specs

Like most games, Assassin’s Creed Origins PC specs fit into two categories. There’s one set for gamers that want to have enough horsepower to play and another set for gamers that want the best visuals possible. The more powerful your Windows PC is, the better looking and smoother your gameplay will be.

To just play Assassin’s Creed Origins PC you need a 64-bit version of Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 installed. Your PC must have an Intel Core i5-2400s or AMD FX-6350 processor or better too. You also need either a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, AMD R9 270 or something more powerful than either of them. The game requires 6 GB of RAM.

If your PC only just meets these requirements, you can expect the game to have a 720p resolution and only run well on low video presets.

For the best experience, plan for your PC to meet Assassin’s Creed Origins recommended specs. These specs include an Intel Core i7-3770, AMD FX-8350 or better. Your PC also needs a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760, AMD R9 280X or better. Also, your video card must have 3GB of dedicated RAM and 8GB of system RAM. With this configuration, expect 1080p video footage and the highest video preset possible.

Assassin’s Creed Origins PC Features

Assassin’s Creed Origins PC has no exclusive gameplay features. However, developer Ubisoft Kiev has added some options to this version of the game that helps PC players get the most out of their hardware.

The game changes its resolution depending on the hardware available to it. For example, gamers with powerful PCs can play at full 4K resolution instead of 1080p. The higher a game’s resolution, the more detailed it looks. 4K visuals are also coming to gamers that play Assassin’s Creed Origins on the Xbox One X.

It’s up to you to cap the game’s framerate or let it change from 30 to 45, 60 or 90 based on what’s going on. High frame rates get you smoother video as you play.

Assassin’s Creed Origins PC has a built-in benchmarking tool. This makes deciding what resolution and frame rate to use much easier.

Where to Buy Assassin’s Creed Origins PC

You can buy digital versions of Assassin’s Creed Origins PC from GameStop, Amazon and Steam. There aren’t any disc versions of the game.

Normally, you could use your Amazon Prime or Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked membership to get a 20% discount on the cost of Assassin’s Creed Origins. Unfortunately, Amazon only has PC codes available for pre-order, and Prime doesn’t discount digital games. You do get a special Secrets of the Pyramid mission with your purchase.

Best Buy’s website doesn’t list the PC version of the game at all. Because Assassin’s Creed Origins PC only comes in digital form, you can’t claim the $10 in rewards benefits you’d otherwise get as a Best Buy Rewards Club member either.

Buying the game at GameStop lets you claim the Mysteries of the Pyramid mission and claim a collectible pin. They aren’t boosting the value of trade-ins when you pre-order Assassin’s Creed Origins yet, but expect them to start soon.

Assassin’s Creed Origins PC is also available through Steam. You only get the Secrets of the Pyramid pre-order mission when you buy there.

Assassin’s Creed Origins PC Editions

There are just three different enhanced versions of Assassin’s Creed Origins PC still available for pre-order from the Ubisoft Store. These enhanced editions include a digital copy of the game.

HDR & 4K Visuals on Xbox One X

Two technologies, HDR and 4K, are growing popular with gamers, and you can buy Assassin’s Creed Origins knowing that it will support both.

HDR is short for High-Dynamic Range. It’s a contrast standard for televisions that gets you brighter colors and deeper blacks. The Xbox One S and Xbox One X support HDR games.

4K is shorthand for 4K Ultra HD. Games that support 4K are four times as sharp as high-definition games. You will see more texture and detail in every building, animal and enemy when playing Assassin’s Creed Origins on the Xbox One X and a 4K TV.
