The V8 is Less Expensive Than the V12

While it should be obvious, the V8 version of the DB11 is less expensive than the V12. Starting price for a DB11 coupe sits at $198,995. Aside from an optional engine badge on the fender, the only way to tell the difference between the V8 and the V12 visually is that that V12 has four hood vents, while the V8 only has two.

That means if you want to drive the dynamically superior DB11, you can without everyone knowing you didn’t spend as much for your car.

In the United States, though, we expect most buyers to opt for the V12. It’s not much more money at $216,495, and nothing on this planet sounds like a V12 engine besides a V12 engine.

The V8 will have more sales success in some European and Asian countries, including China. In those countries, cars are taxed based on the displacement of an engine. These taxes can be quite significant, making the DB11 V8 financially more compelling.

Thankfully, buyers of the V8 are getting a vehicle that’s great to drive and still feels special. It looks fantastic and handles well.

While no car is perfect and there are a few shortcomings with the DB11 V8, the overall experience is bespoke. It’s a car you want in your garage and a car you want to drive. It’s everything we’d expect from a modern-day Aston Martin.
