Mute Annoying People in Messages

1. Do you want to quickly stop seeing notifications when a specific contact or annoying group message thread gets a new message? That's simple on the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. 
2. Open the Messages app. 
3. Swipe from right to left.
4. Tap on Hide Alerts.

You will still get all the messages and no one will know that you've hidden the alerts for this thread. You will see a small moon icon on the thread to let you know that you've muted the alerts. You can repeat this to turn alerts back on.
