The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 release date is coming up quick and those waiting are likely wondering if they should get the Galaxy S8 instead. Here we’ll go over all the Galaxy Note 8 release details we have so far and explain how it compares to the Galaxy S8 based on rumors.

Recent leaks for the Galaxy Note 8 suggest some major changes that should have potential buyers excited. Including a bigger bezel-free Infinity display and dual cameras on the back.

However, the Galaxy Note 8 release date is around three months away. Is that too long to wait? Should you just buy the Galaxy S8 right now? It’s a tough choice you’ll have to make.

These are honest questions to ask, especially considering we know a plenty about the Galaxy Note 8 already, and what it should offer. That said, there are a lot of great Android smartphones available these days and that includes the Galaxy S8. A phone some might choose to buy today instead.

Two of the most important things for buyers is the screen size and camera experience. And those are two key areas where Samsung will improve the Galaxy Note 8. We could even see three cameras on the back that deliver tons of neat new features. Potentially offering an improved camera experience similar to the iPhone 7 Plus or LG G6.

Then again, how big will the screen be and is the change enough to wait for? We’re not sure yet. If you’re one of the millions of Note 7 refugees you’re likely looking for a phone now. The Galaxy S8 is a great device, but the Note 8 should have much more to offer.

In closing, we want to help those on the fence make the right decision. With that in mind, this slideshow takes you through some important details and information about the Galaxy Note 8. Here we’ll discuss the latest rumors and news, then compare it to the Galaxy S8.

Galaxy Note 8 vs Galaxy S8: Display & Design

Galaxy Note 8 vs Galaxy S8: Display & Design

The first thing that should come to mind for most buyers is the size of the screen. Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 will offer tons of screen real estate by coming in at 6.3-inches, at least according to rumors. Although we could see something closer to 6.4-inches all said and done.

This will be an edge-to-edge Infinity Display where the sides curve off of the body, and the bezels on the top and bottom are very tiny. As a result, there's no room for a physical home button. Essentially the same design as the Galaxy S8, only bigger. This means the fingerprint scanner is on the back again, which isn't the best spot. That said, it's separated from the camera by the flash, unlike the Galaxy S8, to help with fingerprints and smudges. At least according to rumors and leaks.

As a comparison, the Galaxy S8 is 5.8-inches and actually a hair bigger than the Galaxy Note 5 or failed Galaxy Note 7. So if that's what you're after, consider the Galaxy S8 today.

One thing to consider is while the size is technically bigger, it's long and skinny so it might not feel much bigger than most models. It's also curved, which not everyone agrees with. All said and done, the Galaxy Note 8 should deliver a large screen in a small and easy to hold package. Part of the Infinity Display is offering a big screen without making the phone physically huge. A perfect middle ground for most.

And finally, the Galaxy S8 is IP68 dust and water resistant, something we can guarantee will also complete the Note 8. Just in case you were wondering.
