Wait for Improved Face Unlock
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ come with iris scanning technology that allows you to unlock the screen with your face. That said we, and many others, have found Samsung's technology to be problematic. Instead of saving time, it often wastes our time. Fortunately, it looks like the Galaxy S9 might not have the same issues.
Developers have discovered a potential Galaxy S9 feature lurking inside the Galaxy Note 8's leaked Android Oreo update. That feature? "Intelligent Scan."
A graphic discovered within the software shows this "Intelligent Scan" feature working in different lighting conditions.
The new feature reportedly combines iris scanning and face scanning technology to improve the accuracy and security.
If you're impressed with the iPhone X's Face ID security, it might be a good idea to wait around for the Galaxy S9. The tech might not be identical, but it could be much better than what's available on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S7.
